Arnold Schoenberg? (not exactly new...) Come on!

Have a listen to Schoenberg, Five Pieces for Orchestra (1909) in a pretty smokin' video by the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, Michael Gielen, cond. True, this is not new music--it's 105! But somehow it is still controversial among musicians and audiences. George Rochberg attributed this to AS being a conduit of a primal energy, as few artists are. And starting with this gives me a chance to show off our cute Arnold doll, who sometimes visits 20th C. theory class.
